Low Carbon Futures: Money does grow on trees…
23 November at Watershed, Bristol
Chaired by RIBA Chief Executive, Harry Rich
Details have been released of an innovative event that will take place at Bristol’s Watershed Centre on 23 November, entitled ‘Low Carbon Futures: Money does grow on trees…’
The conference will look closely at the cutting-edge themes of the new green economy, the business case for using sustainable technologies and incentives and the balance between prosperity and economic growth.
The event’s organisers – the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) South West and The Green Register (TGR) – have been working hard to bring together an impressive line-up of speakers who will address a range of current topics.
Jon Watkins, Head of RIBA SW said:
“The aim of this event is to demonstrate that a new economic model can provide opportunities for forward thinking professionals to differentiate themselves from more conventional peers and secure new opportunities through increased awareness and knowledge.”
He adds:
“Delegates who attend this event can expect to learn more about how we can work towards achieving the Government’s ambitious target of an 80% reduction in CO2 by 2050 and remain economically active.”
Lucy Pedler, Director of The Green Register and practicing architect stated:
“The architectural profession has taken a big hit with the economic downturn. This conference explores some of ways in which the new green economy can offer the construction industry plenty of opportunities for new work.”
There has been widespread coverage of Government schemes including the Feed-in Tariffs, the Renewable Heat Incentive and Pay As You Save, but this event will critically examine these schemes enabling delegates to make informed choices and distinguish between what measures reduce carbon emissions and what is greenwash.
