CESW FF Director Tom Harper writes:
In very tough economic times for the construction industry we at CESW are working hard to provide significantly reduced prices and free guidance/training. Our mission is to get best practice out to the industry and break down barriers to change and that is not done by adding yet further burdens to a hard pressed industry.
In January we will launch our final DVD on Procurement for clients in our ‘Client Commitment series’. This final DVD kicks off and ends with Paul Morrell the Government’s chief construction advisor who asks clients to challenge their teams for better value and continuous improvement whilst adopting partnering as the way to achieve it. The Case for Lowest Price tender is also explored and a Report from the Constructing Excellence team on that very subject is referenced. AT £15 each, and £6.90 for orders over 50, these very high quality DVDs with numerous useful information links are virtually being given away free because we see the need to hold firm to best practice whatever the economic conditions we face. We at CESW also suggest that all members of the construction team should look at these ‘client’ videos – apart from a great source of information they are excellent for use as in-house CPD thus keeping your team up to speed with client expectations and saving your company £1000s!!! More information here.
We are also working in partnership to provide a free once a year up-date to all local contractors around the region on the whole Life Carbon up-grade of the existing housing stock.
Finally we are offering some free places on our one day business VRQ level 2 to anyone in transition from one job to another. This course is an excellent way of sharpening up your thinking in business skills and helping you to be more focused on the profit margins that a company must achieve to survive and prosper. The accredited qualification is a ‘must have’ for your CV! Please contact us for further details.
We aim to do the right thing for the industry and the built environment whatever the season!
