CESW FF Newsletter December 2010 - Whole Life Carbon Assessment DVDs
Whole Life Carbon Assessment DVDs
The whole life carbon assessment DVD is complete and copies are literally flying out of the door. The DVD is a great introduction to whole life carbon assessment and seems to be very timely as just this week the Low Carbon Construction IGT (Innovation and Growth Team) Final Report recommends that the industry should agree with Government a standard method of measuring embodied carbon and that the Treasury should introduce into the Green Book a requirement to conduct a whole-life (embodied + operational) carbon appraisal.
CESW and FF have recently been involved with the industry to input into early agreements on measuring whole life carbon which is being lead by Davis Langdon on request by Paul Morrell. Please feel free to contact Thomas if you are interested in finding out more about this or whole life carbon in general.
We are also busy drawing up a support package for construction firms to help them monitor construction site impacts and set up benchmarking clubs. Last week, we provided a free half days training for 13 construction companies in Somerset on construction site impacts and environmental management systems. If you are interested in receiving some support on monitoring or measuring construction site impacts please contact Thomas Store
In 2011 we are planning a South West based conference on whole life carbon, as well as, seminars across the South West including at RIBA’s City CPD Club in Truro (17/03/2011) and Salisbury (09/11/2011) with White Design and SWRDA. We also hope to be putting on some construction site impact training sessions (demand dependent).
