NRC Launch
The Launch of the NRC
The National Refurbishment Centre is now launched. It is a joint initiative between the Energy Saving Trust, the BRE Trust Constructing Excellence and a number of key industry partners to enable the practical delivery of green refurbishment through a national demonstration network. Their objective is to deliver a huge step-change in the national delivery of green refurbishment. The project will be driven by data and information collected from 450-500 exemplar projects. Their large and expanding repository of independent data will help research and enable stakeholder working groups to make practical evidence-based decisions.
CESW and regional partners LABC, BRE, HSE, FMB and Bradfords are pioneering training in tandem with this initiative.
To the local builder via a once a year up-date training and yearly dated ‘I’ve been up-dated’ sticker for the back of the van. Training starts in Cornwall in Exeter 1st Feb 2011, Matford Centre and proceeds to Bodmin 16th Feb 2011 Dragon Centre. It will not stop in this region – plans are in place for it to go national. Invitations will be issued via Building Control Surveyors shortly. Training is free and will include a Building Control up-date, a health and safety quiz and up-date and news of the cutting edge studies on the BRE Victorian Terrace and new sustainable materials being developed. See www.rethinkingrefurbishment.com for further details on the NRC as it develops.
